Jameson Singers Spring 2012 Concert

Event Description

The Jameson Singers present Haydn’s Missa Angustiis, popularly known as the “Lord Nelson” Mass.

The unquestioned masterpiece of Haydn’s 14 masses, the “Lord Nelson” Mass was written in a time of war and upheaval in Europe, and ends with grand plea for peace – as relevant in our time as it was in Haydn’s.

As a prelude to the “Lord Nelson” Mass, The Jameson Singers will perform a set of a cappella works:

• Tarik O’Regan: Ipsa vivere;
• Heinrich Schütz: two motets from Cantiones Sacrae; and
• Josquin Desprez: Sanctus from Missa Gaudeamus. 

The concertmaster of the Jameson Chamber Orchestra is Heidi Braun-Hill, and the talented quartet of soloists are Sonja Tengblad soprano, Stephanie Kacoyanis alto, Michael Barrett tenor, and Paul Tipton bass.
